With Marc Schmidt at Mettet Superbiker

posted on October 12th 2019

Supermoto is now a popular road practice, but it is also, and since its origins, a superb moto racing discipline. Mettet Superbiker is one of the major world supermoto events in competition. Every year, it brings together the world’s best riders to Belgium, at Jules Tacheny racetrack in Mettet. The participants compete over three days in front of thousands of spectators. For this 33rd edition, more than 400 riders representing 26 different nationalities have signed up. They are divided into several classes and must pass through the qualifiers until the finals on Sunday afternoon.

Supermoto Army had to be present to support Marc-Reiner Schmidt, winner of the 2015 and 2018 editions. Marc has been racing with the Italian L30 Racing team, headed by Ivan Lazzarini, since last year. He will face Thomas Chareyre and Markus Class, who were with him on the podium last year. They will obviously be formidable opponents, ready and eager to take their revenge.

Friday was a quiet day before the storm for Marc Schmidt, as he will enter the arena on Saturday without going having to go through the qualifying stages. It was the opportunity to make the final preparations on his CRF 450, which carries a superb black design kit for the occasion.

Here is a small gallery from Friday, before getting to the heart of the matter later in the day.
